Boerse Stuttgart taps SocGen, flatexDEGIRO for EU blockchain settlement push

Boerse Stuttgart’s Seturion has partnered with Societe Generale, its crypto subsidiary SG-FORGE, and online broker flatexDEGIRO to establish a pan-European blockchain securities settlement system. Societe Generale will issue tokenized structured securities, including turbo warrants and investment certificates, on Seturion, with SG-FORGE facilitating settlements using its CoinVertible euro and dollar stablecoins, EURCV and USDCV. FlatexDEGIRO, serving 3.5 million customers across 16 countries, will connect its retail investor flow to the platform, while Nasdaq’s European trading venues will also integrate to support trading of these tokenized securities. This collaboration aims to reduce settlement costs and fragmentation, contributing to a unified European capital market for tokenized assets, and highlights the ongoing efforts by European financial institutions to build regulated blockchain infrastructure. Seturion has submitted a license application to Germany’s BaFin under the EU's DLT Pilot Regime.

Why the CLARITY Act Could Be a Game Changer for Ondo Finance

Ondo Finance is currently navigating market volatility as its native token price faces downward pressure alongside broader crypto trends, yet the project remains a focal point for the potential impact of the CLARITY Act. This pending U.S. legislation, which has already cleared the House and the Senate Banking Committee, aims to establish a comprehensive federal framework for tokenized securities. By defining legal standards for reserves, licensing, and compliance, the bill seeks to mirror the institutional adoption seen after the GENIUS Act provided clarity for stablecoins. Ondo Finance President Ian de Bode emphasizes that such regulatory certainty is the primary catalyst needed to unlock trillions of dollars currently sitting on the sidelines. With tokenized Treasuries already reaching nearly $15 billion and tokenized equities exceeding $1.5 billion, the sector is poised for significant expansion once institutional guardrails are finalized. Ondo has positioned its ecosystem, including products like OUSG and USDY, to capitalize on this shift by utilizing a debt-instrument wrapper model designed for efficient scaling. As lawmakers approach the August recess, the industry is watching closely to see if this legislative progress will serve as a major inflection point for the RWA market.

tZERO Sends Cease-and-Desist Letter to Securitize, Targets Additional Firms in Patent Enforcement Push - citybuzz -

tZERO Group, Inc. has initiated a strategic enforcement of its intellectual property portfolio by issuing a cease-and-desist letter to Securitize, Inc. regarding alleged patent infringement. The dispute centers on U.S. Patent Nos. 11,216,802 and 11,394,560, which cover foundational technologies for security token compliance, smart-contract-based registries, and crypto integration. tZERO, which holds 105 patents across 23 families, claims these technologies are utilized in Securitize’s DS protocol and Vault Registrar. Beyond this specific action, tZERO has identified at least six other market participants across sectors like regulated RWA platforms and decentralized exchanges that may be infringing on its broader IP portfolio. This portfolio includes patents related to consolidated order books, decentralized trade ordering, and privacy-preserving transaction techniques. By aggressively protecting its intellectual property, tZERO aims to solidify its market position as the tokenized securities industry matures. The outcome of these enforcement efforts could force competitors into licensing agreements or trigger legal disputes that fundamentally reshape the competitive landscape for digital asset infrastructure. This development highlights the increasing importance of proprietary technology in the regulated RWA sector as firms move to defend their market share.

Ondo Finance Seeks SEC Approval for Tokenized Securities on Ethereum

Ondo Finance has submitted a no-action request to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission seeking approval to issue tokenized securities on the Ethereum network. Under this proposed model, underlying equities would be held via the Depository Trust Company through broker-dealer Alpaca, while Ondo issues tokens to represent corresponding securities entitlements. This structure aims to utilize on-chain tokens for collateral management and record-keeping, effectively bridging traditional off-chain holdings with blockchain-based administration. The request specifically asks the SEC to confirm that this operational framework does not necessitate broker-dealer registration for the firm. This move is significant as it reflects a broader industry push for regulatory clarity, occurring alongside similar initiatives from major players like the New York Stock Exchange, Robinhood, and Coinbase. With the tokenized real-world asset market currently valued at approximately $23 billion, and Ondo contributing roughly $2.8 billion, such regulatory developments are critical for the sector's projected growth to trillions of dollars by 2030. While the SEC has not yet responded, the filing highlights the ongoing evolution of legal frameworks necessary to integrate traditional financial products into decentralized infrastructure.
