About the Role

We are building in-region Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) capability in Singapore. Reporting to the APAC Head of Compliance, and working closely with our global FIU team, the FIU Lead will own the transaction monitoring and blockchain investigations function for BitGo Singapore, our Major Payment Institution licensed entity. You will own first-line review of all TM alerts and progressively automate aspects of the programme, in partnership with the Engineering and Product teams. You will also lead complex blockchain investigations, validate our monitoring models, and write the policies and procedures that govern our transaction monitoring programme.

This is a senior individual contributor role. We are looking for a technical expert who loves to be hands-on, and can operate with high-autonomy. You will be the in-house subject matter expert on transaction monitoring and on-chain analytics in APAC.

Responsibilities

Transaction monitoring and alert review

  • First-line alert review: Review, triage and disposition all TM alerts to defined SLAs. Document clear, auditable rationales and escalate suspicious activity to the Compliance Manager for STR consideration.
  • Automation: Design and implement automation to reduce manual alert handling, such as rules-based auto-closure, enrichment of alerts with on-chain and KYC data, and standardised case notes. Measure and report on efficiency and quality gains.
  • Quality and coverage: Own alert-handling procedures, QA sampling, SLAs and performance metrics, and provide regular reports to the Head of Compliance.
  • Rule and threshold tuning: Analyse alert volumes, false-positive rates and typologies. Recommend scenario and threshold changes to improve coverage and reduce noise.

Blockchain investigations

  • Deep-dive investigations: Trace fund flows across chains and protocols, including mixers, bridges, DeFi, privacy-enhancing tools and cross-chain swaps. Identify exposure to sanctioned, illicit, darknet, scam, ransomware and high-risk counterparties.
  • Typology analysis: Identify emerging typologies and red flags, and turn them into monitoring scenarios and staff guidance.
  • Reporting: Produce clear investigation reports and case files that stand up to internal review and regulatory scrutiny. Support STR drafting and responses to law enforcement and regulatory requests.
  • Tooling: Make expert use of blockchain analytics platforms (e.g. TRM Labs, Chainalysis, Elliptic) and public explorers, and advise on vendor performance and coverage.

Model validation and governance

  • Model validation: Independently validate TM scenarios, risk-scoring and analytics models, including data integrity, coverage, threshold calibration, back-testing and below-the-line testing. Document findings and track remediation.
  • Data and controls: Partner with Engineering and Data teams on data quality, lineage and alert-generation logic. Support periodic reviews of the TM programme.

Policies, procedures and regulatory

  • Policies and procedures: Draft and maintain TM, blockchain investigation and escalation policies, SOPs and playbooks aligned with MAS requirements (Payment Services Act, MAS Notice PS-N02 and related guidelines) and BitGo global standards.
  • Regulatory engagement: Support MAS inspections, audits and thematic reviews, and track regulatory developments relevant to TM, the Travel Rule and digital asset AML/CFT.
  • Ad hoc compliance work: Support the wider APAC Compliance team on projects as needed.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years' experience in transaction monitoring, AML/CFT or financial crime investigations at a bank, payment institution, crypto or fintech firm, or an advisory/analytics firm.
  • Proven hands-on experience with blockchain analytics tools (TRM Labs, Chainalysis and/or Elliptic) and on-chain tracing across multiple chains.
  • Solid understanding of digital asset typologies, including mixers, bridges, DeFi, stablecoins, sanctions evasion, scams and ransomware.
  • Experience writing or validating TM scenarios, models or risk-scoring methodologies, with a good grasp of testing, tuning and documentation standards.
  • Working knowledge of Singapore AML/CFT requirements for DPT service providers (Payment Services Act, MAS PS-N02, MAS guidelines).
  • Strong written communication, with the ability to explain complex findings to non-specialists and regulators.
  • Independent, organised and comfortable owning outcomes in a lean team and a fast-moving environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. finance, law, computer science, data analytics).

Preferred

  • Professional certifications such as CAMS, CGSS, CCI, CBE or CFE.
  • Experience in a MAS-licensed entity or a regulated custodian, exchange or payments firm.
  • Experience with case management or TM platforms, and with automation or AI-assisted review.
  • Experience supporting regulatory examinations or independent audits of a TM programme.

BitGo COO Says Tokenized Securities Need Proactive Regulation

BitGo Chief Operating Officer Jody Mettler has advised the tokenized securities industry to proactively prepare for impending regulatory shifts as the sector matures. Mettler highlighted recent strategic moves by the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) as a primary indicator that increased oversight is on the horizon. This call for preparation follows a significant regulatory development on September 17, when the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) granted an exemption for tokenized securities venues. This exemption allows eligible platforms to utilize restricted-access automated market-making systems and liquidity pools for specific tokenized National Market System (NMS) shares. While these systems are subject to strict operating conditions and asset limits, the move represents a formal step toward integrating tokenized assets into traditional market structures. For the RWA market, this signals a transition from experimental pilot programs to a more regulated, institutional-grade environment. Industry participants are now encouraged to align their operational frameworks with these evolving standards to ensure long-term compliance and market stability.

BitGo Supported Tokenized Collateral in DTCC Production Event

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) successfully executed a production event on July 15 involving real-world transactions of tokenized U.S. Treasurys and equities. Over 30 financial firms participated in the initiative, which utilized the Canton blockchain network alongside a private network built on Hyperledger Besu. BitGo Bank & Trust provided critical custody and settlement services for the tokenized collateral used in institutional repo, reverse repo, and securities lending workflows. This milestone demonstrates the practical application of distributed ledger technology in streamlining complex post-trade processes for traditional securities. By integrating these assets into a controlled blockchain environment, the DTCC aims to enhance operational efficiency and reduce settlement friction for institutional market participants. The organization is currently targeting an October 2026 launch for its broader tokenization service, with asset eligibility determined by market demand. This development marks a significant step toward the institutional adoption of tokenized financial instruments within established market infrastructure.

BitGo deepens its Canton Network role with institutional custody and token support

BitGo has established itself as the first U.S.-based qualified custodian to support the Canton Network, a permissioned blockchain designed for institutional finance. Since October 2025, the firm has provided custody for the network's native token, Canton Coin, backed by $250 million in institutional insurance. In March 2026, BitGo expanded its services to include the CIP-56 token standard, enabling support for assets like the USDC-backed stablecoin USDCx and wrapped Bitcoin, cBTC. The integration utilizes MPC TSS custodial wallets to ensure secure, multi-party transaction signing. Furthermore, BitGo introduced electronic trading and settlement capabilities via its Go Network, allowing institutions to manage assets without removing them from custody. By positioning itself as the sole regulated custodian on the network, BitGo acts as a critical infrastructure gatekeeper for institutional participants. This development is significant because it bridges the gap between traditional institutional requirements and the privacy-focused, atomic settlement features of the Canton Network. As major entities like Goldman Sachs and the DTCC engage with the network, BitGo's role facilitates the secure movement and storage of high-value digital assets.
