About the role (from employer)

About Ondo

Capital markets are moving onchain. Ondo Finance is building the products and infrastructure that will bring them there.

We create institutional-grade, blockchain-enabled investment products and services, including tokenized treasuries, tokenized stocks and ETFs, and new trading experiences built for global, always-on markets. We are the category leader by AUM, well-capitalized, and backed by investors including Founders Fund, Coinbase Ventures, Pantera Capital, and Tiger Global.

The underlying financial infrastructure is complex. We believe the product experience should not be.

About the Web team

The Web team builds the product layer that makes Ondo's financial infrastructure accessible. We own the experiences through which users onboard, establish eligibility, move money, mint and redeem Ondo Stocks, manage portfolios, and use products across multiple blockchains.

We are a small team of exceptional engineers with broad ownership and a high bar for craft, judgment, and execution. We turn complexity across compliance systems, backend services, smart contracts, and external partners into products that feel clear and dependable.

Engineering on this team is distinguished by:

  • Product taste. We simplify complex financial workflows without hiding the details that matter.
  • End-to-end ownership. Engineers shape, build, launch, and improve the product.
  • Speed with confidence. We scope sharply, move quickly, and hold a high quality bar.
  • Security and correctness. Access control, auditability, privacy, and failure behavior are design constraints from the start.
  • High agency and low ego. We act without waiting, invite direct critique, and make the team better.

About the role

As a Full-Stack Engineer focused on Compliance, you will design the foundations of Ondo's onboarding and compliance platform. You will own the systems that determine how users establish eligibility, move through KYC/KYB and compliance review, and how Operations and Compliance teams investigate and resolve cases.

Your scope spans the full workflow—from the user-facing onboarding experience to the internal tools, decision logic, data models, and third-party integrations behind it. You will set technical direction, define system boundaries and invariants, and evolve the platform as our products, policies, and scale change.

This is a foundational ownership role for a senior engineer. You will turn ambiguous policy and operational requirements into precise product behavior and durable architecture. You will partner closely with Compliance, Legal, Risk, Operations, Product, and Design while owning the engineering judgment: what must be true, how the system can fail, and how it remains secure, explainable, and resilient in production.

We are looking for an engineer who sees the whole system, anticipates what comes next, and raises the standard for critical product infrastructure.

What you'll do

  • Own compliance-focused product areas from problem definition and architecture through implementation, launch, production operation, and iteration.
  • Build clear, maintainable interfaces along with the APIs, data models, workflows, and integrations that make them work.
  • Turn complex regulatory and operational requirements into intuitive, testable product behavior for customers and internal users.
  • Integrate third-party APIs and webhooks from identity, sanctions, blockchain analytics, fraud, and case-management providers while maintaining strong data quality, privacy, observability, and auditability.
  • Design for real-world failure modes, including delayed and reordered vendor events, manual review, partial outages, retries, and conflicting state across systems.
  • Work directly with Compliance, Legal, Risk, Operations, Product, Design, and users to understand the domain and make sound product and technical tradeoffs.
  • Apply AI and machine learning where they can safely reduce manual work or improve decision support, with appropriate security, human review, explainability, and audit trails.
  • Raise the level of the team through clear design work, thoughtful code review, strong operational ownership, and effective use of modern AI engineering tools.

What you bring

  • 4+ years of experience building and operating production full-stack applications with React, Next.js, Node.js, and TypeScript.
  • Strong fundamentals in API and data-model design, relational databases, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, testing, observability, and third-party integrations.
  • Hands-on experience building KYC/KYB, identity verification, onboarding, or similarly sensitive workflows, with a strong understanding of access controls, data protection, auditability, and secure system design.
  • A record of owning complex product work end to end—not only implementing requirements handed to you.
  • Product and technical judgment: you can translate ambiguous policy into precise system behavior, identify consequential edge cases, and make pragmatic tradeoffs without compromising critical controls.
  • High standards for security, correctness, reliability, usability, and maintainability.
  • The ability to communicate clearly, learn unfamiliar domains quickly, and create alignment across technical, legal, compliance, and operational partners.
  • High agency and low ego. You move important work forward, invite strong critique, surface risk early, and care more about getting the system right than being right.

Preferred qualifications

  • Familiarity with financial-crime controls and frameworks such as BSA/AML, OFAC, FinCEN, KYC/CDD, SEC, or FATF.
  • Experience building fintech, payments, trading, crypto, or other products where correctness, trust, and regulatory obligations are essential.
  • Experience with systems that combine offchain identity and compliance data with onchain activity.
  • Experience supporting audits, regulatory examinations, control testing, or compliance reporting.
  • Experience applying AI or machine learning to regulated operational workflows.

We do not expect every strong candidate to know every framework or arrive with deep crypto experience. We do expect curiosity, sound engineering judgment, respect for the domain, and the ability to become effective in unfamiliar regulatory and technical terrain quickly.

What we offer

  • Challenging, high-impact work building the trust and control layer for a new category of financial infrastructure.
  • Competitive compensation including salary, future token rights, and/or equity, according to your preferences.
  • Full medical, vision, and dental benefits, plus a flexible vacation policy.
  • A remote-first environment with meaningful autonomy and influence over product and technical direction.
  • Exceptional colleagues from Goldman Sachs, BlackRock, Two Sigma, Bridgewater, SpaceX, AWS, Meta, Google, McKinsey, Coinbase, Circle, and Uniswap.
  • Backing from leading crypto experts and investors, including Pantera Capital, Founders Fund, and Coinbase Ventures.

Near co-founder says liquidity remains the biggest challenge for tokenized stocks

NEAR Protocol is addressing the critical issue of liquidity fragmentation in the tokenized equity market through its NEAR Intents architecture. Co-founder Illia Polosukhin highlighted that while assets like Nvidia stock are moving onchain, liquidity remains siloed across various networks such as Ethereum, Solana, and Base. NEAR Intents functions as an aggregation layer, allowing users to execute large trades by specifying desired assets rather than manually navigating bridges or individual liquidity pools. By integrating with Ondo Finance, which recently surpassed $1 billion in total value locked, NEAR aims to bridge the gap between onchain tokenized securities and traditional financial venues like Nasdaq. This model enables solvers to source or mint assets across multiple chains and centralized exchanges to fulfill user orders efficiently. The platform currently supports 20 tokenized US stocks and ETFs, including major equities like Tesla and Apple. This development is significant for the RWA market as it provides a unified infrastructure to scale institutional-grade trading volumes across disparate blockchain ecosystems.

Ondo Tokenized Stocks Hit Record $1.26B TVL as ONDO Tests Key Support

Ondo Finance has achieved a significant milestone as its platform for tokenized stocks and ETFs reached a record $1.26 billion in total value locked. The platform currently supports a diverse catalog of over 450 individual tokenized equities and exchange-traded funds. Beyond the TVL growth, the protocol has recorded a cumulative trading volume exceeding $28 billion, signaling robust institutional and retail interest in on-chain equity exposure. While the ONDO governance token continues to experience market volatility and technical chart analysis, the platform's underlying asset adoption remains a distinct metric from the token's price performance. This growth highlights the increasing demand for bridging traditional equity markets with blockchain infrastructure to enhance liquidity and accessibility. The sustained capital inflows into these tokenized products suggest a maturing market for real-world assets beyond simple yield-bearing instruments. As Ondo continues to scale its offerings, the ability to maintain this pace of adoption will be a critical indicator for the broader RWA sector.

Ondo Perps Adds Spot Trading for 12 Tokenized Stocks and ETFs

Ondo Finance has expanded its Ondo Perps platform by launching spot trading for 12 tokenized stocks and ETFs, including assets like NVIDIA, Tesla, and gold-linked tokens. This development allows eligible non-U.S. traders to purchase these tokens directly on the platform using USDC and immediately utilize them as collateral for perpetual futures positions. By integrating spot and derivatives trading, the platform enables users to maintain long exposure while simultaneously hedging through short positions without needing separate stablecoin collateral. The system utilizes an offchain matching engine with onchain settlement, supporting assets on Ethereum and Arbitrum. This move represents a significant evolution in RWA utility, as it transforms tokenized securities from passive holdings into active margin collateral. The platform applies specific risk management measures, such as asset-specific haircuts ranging from 10% to 25%, to account for potential price divergence. This integration highlights the growing trend of creating unified trading environments where real-world assets serve as the foundational liquidity for decentralized derivatives markets.
