CONNECT recap: Arthur Hayes on money printing, Wall Street moves onchain

The CONNECT by Cointelegraph event in Seoul highlighted the ongoing integration of traditional finance into blockchain ecosystems, focusing on institutional adoption and asset tokenization. Industry leaders discussed how established banks and asset managers leverage existing customer relationships to dominate the emerging onchain market. Franklin Templeton emphasized its strategy of using tokenized money market funds to provide investment income, noting a recent partnership with MoonPay to facilitate stablecoin-to-fund conversions. Meanwhile, R3 is expanding its reach by connecting private financial networks to the public Solana blockchain to broaden institutional access. Experts also addressed the practical challenges of corporate crypto treasuries, stressing the need for careful liquidity management and tailored risk strategies. Discussions further explored the growing demand for stablecoin-based cross-border payments in emerging markets like Latin America and Africa. These developments underscore a broader shift where financial institutions are prioritizing infrastructure and utility over the original crypto ethos of disintermediation.

Next Shiba Inu Search Heats Up as Franklin Templeton Puts $686M On-Chain and Pepeto Goes Live

Franklin Templeton has expanded its institutional crypto integration by enabling $686 million in tokenized money market fund shares to be used as trading collateral on the Bybit exchange. This initiative, launched on September 28, allows investors to pledge tokenized fund shares via ByCustody while continuing to earn yield on their underlying assets. By integrating these shares into major exchanges like Bybit, Binance, and OKX, the $1.83 trillion asset manager is bridging traditional finance with digital asset liquidity. This development signifies a shift where institutional capital seeks to maintain core holdings while gaining exposure to crypto markets without liquidating positions. While the article contrasts this institutional progress with speculative retail tokens, the core event highlights the growing utility of tokenized U.S. Treasury-backed funds in decentralized finance. The ability to use regulated, yield-bearing assets as collateral on centralized exchanges marks a maturing phase for the RWA sector. This trend underscores how traditional financial giants are increasingly treating blockchain rails as standard infrastructure for capital efficiency.

Franklin Templeton’s Chetan Karkhanis: Asia leads in tokenized finance

Franklin Templeton is aggressively expanding its tokenized finance footprint in Asia, identifying Korea, Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong as leaders in the sector. The firm asserts these markets are two to three years ahead of global peers, supported by clear regulatory frameworks like Singapore’s Monetary Authority guidelines and Hong Kong’s Fintech 2030 plan. Franklin Templeton has executed a series of strategic launches, including Hong Kong’s first tokenized money market fund in November 2025 and a partnership with DBS Bank for a Singaporean retail fund. Further expansion occurred in 2026 through collaborations with DigiFT and HashKey Exchange to distribute tokenized products and the Franklin OnChain U.S. Government Liquidity Fund. These initiatives leverage the proprietary Benji platform, which facilitates fractional ownership and on-chain settlement for traditional assets. The firm’s strategy focuses on familiar products like Treasuries and money market funds to drive institutional adoption rather than speculative DeFi applications. This regional momentum mirrors broader market trends, where total tokenized RWA volume on public blockchains surged from $5.5 billion in 2021 to $18.6 billion by 2025. By prioritizing pragmatic integration, Franklin Templeton aims to enhance traditional financial infrastructure through blockchain efficiency.
