About Paxos

Today’s financial infrastructure is archaic, expensive, inefficient and risky — supporting a system that leaves out more people than it lets in. So we’re rebuilding it.

We’re on a mission to open the world’s financial system to everyone by enabling the instant movement of any asset, any time, in a trustworthy way. For over a decade, we’ve built blockchain infrastructure that tokenizes, custodies, trades and settles assets for the world's leading financial institutions, like PayPal, Venmo, Mastercard, Interactive Brokers and Charles Schwab.

About the team

Our Compliance team is a cornerstone of Paxos’ trusted, regulated infrastructure, ensuring we meet the highest standards of oversight while enabling responsible innovation. The team combines deep regulatory expertise with a practical understanding of blockchain and financial markets to design and run robust, scalable compliance programs. We partner closely with business and product teams to build solutions that protect our customers and our company, while supporting sustainable growth across both traditional and digital asset environments

About the role

As a Senior Compliance Associate, KYC, you will help Paxos understand and manage customer risk through onboarding, ongoing due diligence, and enhanced due diligence reviews for individual and institutional customers. You will work independently, assess complex customer information, and make well-supported, risk-based decisions, escalating matters that require additional guidance or approval. You will also partner across teams to resolve issues, strengthen KYC processes, and support junior colleagues through guidance and knowledge sharing.

What you’ll do

  • Independently perform KYC onboarding, ongoing due diligence, and enhanced due diligence reviews, managing your workload to meet quality standards and deadlines.

  • Assess complex customer information, apply sound, risk-based judgment within your authority, and clearly document decisions, escalating concerns with supporting analysis and recommended next steps.

  • Support junior analysts through guidance, knowledge sharing, and feedback on review quality and documentation.

  • Contribute to KYC procedures and operational guidance, identifying areas that need clarification or updates.

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Data, and business teams to resolve KYC challenges and support practical solutions.

  • Communicate with enterprise partners, customers, and their Compliance teams to obtain information, clarify requirements, and resolve due diligence questions.

  • Identify control gaps and support remediation through root cause analysis, corrective actions, and evidence preparation.

  • Support audits and regulatory examinations by preparing documentation, explaining review decisions, and providing timely, accurate responses.

  • Identify and escalate KYC vendor issues and contribute feedback on service quality and capabilities.

  • Recommend and drive improvements to KYC tools and workflows, contribute operational requirements, and support user acceptance testing and implementation.

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and control effectiveness through automation and appropriate AI use.

  • Use operational metrics to prioritize work, flag backlog or quality concerns, and communicate and propose solutions to blockers and capacity constraints.

  • Support the Compliance Operations team through occasional weekend duty, as business needs require.

About you

  • Strong working knowledge of US KYC requirements, including customer identification, beneficial ownership, CDD, EDD, customer risk rating, and ongoing due diligence for individual and institutional customers.

  • Experience independently performing KYC reviews, assessing complex cases, and documenting well-supported, risk-based decisions within established authority, escalating where needed.

  • Ability to support junior analysts through practical guidance, knowledge sharing, and feedback.

  • Strong collaboration skills, with experience working across Compliance, Product, Engineering, Data, and business teams to resolve issues.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and proactively communicate blockers and capacity constraints.

  • Experience contributing to procedures and operational guidance that support consistent KYC reviews.

  • Experience identifying control gaps and supporting remediation, audits, or regulatory examinations through analysis, implementation, and documentation.

  • Ability to use operational metrics to prioritize work and identify backlog, quality, or turnaround time concerns.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including clearly explaining due diligence requirements and documenting risk assessments and recommendations.

  • A hands-on approach, strong ownership, and the ability to work independently while recognizing when guidance or approval is required.

  • Familiarity with AI and automation tools, with sound judgment about appropriate use, data protection, and verification of outputs.

Tokenized commodities reach US$5.55 billion, functions expand

The market capitalization of tokenized commodities surged to US$5.55 billion by March 2026, marking a significant increase from US$1.43 billion at the start of 2025. Gold-backed tokens from Paxos and Tether currently dominate this sector, representing nearly 90% of the total market growth. Beyond simple price tracking, developers are now integrating complex financial functions such as lending, rental income, and inventory financing into these digital assets. Paxos Labs has introduced PAXGy, which generates yield through gold-denominated loans to institutional borrowers, while Theo has launched thSLVR to provide rental income from silver leasing. Meanwhile, Energy Substantiation (EnSub) is testing the tokenization of oil with its WTIC token, which represents one barrel of WTI crude oil on the Ethereum blockchain. These innovations aim to democratize access to commodity lending markets that were previously restricted to large institutional players. As the sector matures, Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK) is actively drafting regulatory frameworks to govern the issuance, custody, and protection of tokenized real assets.

Tokenized commodities eye next phase of growth as gold, silver and oil move onchain

The tokenized commodities market is evolving beyond gold-backed assets to include industrial metals and energy, reaching a market capitalization of $5.55 billion by March 2026. While gold-backed tokens from Paxos and Tether currently represent nearly 90% of this sector, firms like Theo and Energy Substantiation are introducing new products for silver and oil. These platforms aim to democratize access to commodity financing, allowing investors to earn yield through lending and leasing arrangements that were previously restricted to large institutions. Paxos is leveraging its PAXGy token to allow holders to increase gold exposure through lending, while Theo’s thSLVR product distributes income from institutional silver leases. Energy Substantiation has expanded its WTI crude oil token, WTIC, to the Solana blockchain to facilitate inventory financing and hedging for energy market participants. This shift toward productive, yield-bearing assets is expected to drive the market toward a projected $100 billion valuation within a decade. The growth of this sector depends on integrating blockchain tokens with reliable physical supply chains, custody solutions, and established commodity settlement markets.

Hare Develops Aave-Powered Vaults for Stablecoins and Tokenized Gold

Hare is developing new onchain vaults that leverage Aave liquidity pools to provide yield-generating products for dollar stablecoins and tokenized gold. The initiative, built in collaboration with the liquidity-distribution platform Turtle, aims to expand the curated-vault model by pooling assets into lending markets. Hare USD Earn will focus on major dollar stablecoins, while Hare Gold Earn is designed to support Paxos’ PAXG and PAXGy tokenized gold products. This development occurs as the broader curated-vault market experiences significant growth, reaching $11.29 billion in total value locked across 856 vaults as of August 20, 2026. Despite this expansion, the market remains highly concentrated, with five curators controlling 69% of the total value. While the technical framework utilizes Aave’s overcollateralized borrowing model, specific details regarding launch dates, yields, fees, and regulatory compliance for U.S. investors remain undisclosed. The project highlights the ongoing trend of integrating institutional-grade assets like gold into decentralized finance protocols to capture yield. Future updates are expected to clarify the product specifications and operational risk controls for these vaults.
