Caterpillar (CAT) Formally Objects To Tokenized Trading Of Its Shares

Caterpillar (NYSE:CAT) has formally issued an objection to the listing of its equity on the OKX-ICE tokenized stock venue, citing a lack of authorization for the digital representation of its shares. The company expressed significant concerns regarding regulatory compliance and reputational risks associated with how its stock is accessed and marketed on the unregistered platform. This move highlights the friction between traditional corporate issuers and decentralized finance platforms that utilize SEC exemptions to offer tokenized versions of real-world assets. Because the OKX-ICE venue relies on a specific regulatory exemption that mandates the cessation of trading upon a written objection from the issuer, Caterpillar's action forces a direct test of these tokenization protocols. The company is prioritizing strict control over its brand and equity narrative, particularly as it manages a $72 billion backlog and complex global infrastructure operations. This development serves as a critical case study for the RWA market, illustrating how major industrial firms may push back against unauthorized digital asset representations. The outcome of this 30-day objection window will likely influence how other platforms approach the listing of tokenized equities without explicit issuer consent.

OKX to list Unified Tokenized Stocks xSHLD, xSQQQ and more for spot trading

OKX has launched Unified Tokenized Stocks, a new product line allowing users to trade price exposure to major stocks and ETFs on its spot market. These assets, identified by an 'X' prefix such as XAAPL or XTSLA, are powered by the xStocks framework developed by Payward. The platform supports 24/7 trading, enabling users to react to market news outside of traditional exchange hours by utilizing last-close pricing combined with market estimates. These tokens are compatible with the Solana and X Layer blockchains, allowing for deposits and withdrawals directly from the OKX ecosystem. By integrating these assets into existing crypto spot accounts, OKX eliminates the need for separate brokerage accounts or fiat currency conversions. Dividends are handled automatically through issuer-level reinvestment, which is then reflected as an increase in the user's share balance. This development marks a significant expansion in the accessibility of traditional equity exposure within the digital asset space, though the tokens do not confer actual shareholder rights or ownership of the underlying companies.

OKX Adds ETFs, Tokenized Stocks, And Stablecoins To Automated Portfolio Bot

OKX has announced an expansion of its Smart Portfolio Bot to include ETFs, tokenized stocks, and stablecoins, marking a shift from its previous cryptocurrency-only automated allocation model. This upgrade aims to provide users with diversified, lower-volatility investment options by blending traditional financial instruments with digital assets within a single interface. Despite the announcement, OKX has not disclosed a specific release date, the list of supported assets, or the fee structure for these new categories. The move represents a strategic attempt to differentiate the exchange from competitors like Binance and Bybit, which primarily focus on crypto-native automated strategies. Because tokenized stocks and ETFs often face strict regional regulatory constraints, the practical availability of these features remains unclear for many global users. The lack of technical specifications regarding custody, settlement, and rebalancing logic for non-crypto assets leaves significant operational questions unanswered. Ultimately, this development signals a broader industry trend toward integrating real-world assets into retail-facing automated trading tools, though the immediate impact is limited by the current lack of transparency.
