About the role (from employer)

About Marketnode

Marketnode is a financial market infrastructure company backed by SGX Group, Temasek, HSBC and Euroclear. We build and operate digital market infrastructure across capital markets, funds and credit, working with leading banks and institutions across APAC and beyond.

About Smartflow

Smartflow is Marketnode's AI and agentic workflow engine for asset operations. Currently live with credit, Smartflow automates the event lifecycle across onboarding, drawdowns, amendments, repricings, covenant testing and agency notices.

The platform extracts structured data from complex documents such as APLMA/LMA credit agreements, links fields back to their source clauses, routes outputs through human-in-the-loop review, and integrates with loan management systems such as Finastra Loan IQ.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Senior Technical Business Analyst to support the delivery and continued enhancement of Smartflow and the asset management platforms it integrates with.

You will work closely with credit and operations stakeholders, product owners, engineering and AI teams, clients and technology partners to translate complex credit workflows into clear, buildable technical and functional requirements.

This role requires someone who understands how syndicated loans work in practice — from the credit agreement and initial onboarding through amendments, servicing events and covenant monitoring — and can translate that knowledge into precise requirements for data extraction, review workflows, business rules, data models and system integrations.

You will sit at the intersection of credit operations, enterprise technology and applied AI, helping turn complex financial processes into scalable digital workflows.

Experience with commercial lending or loan servicing platforms such as Finastra Loan IQ, FIS, Temenos, ACBS or equivalent banking platforms will be highly valued.

Requirements & Business Analysis

  • Gather, analyse and document business and technical requirements across credit and lending workflows, including origination, servicing, syndication and collateral management.
  • Translate credit events such as onboarding, drawdowns, amendments, repricings, covenant testing and agency notices into detailed system requirements.
  • Define field-level requirements, validation rules, business rules and confidence thresholds for Smartflow's extraction workflows.
  • Define requirements for amendment handling, including clause comparison, version tracking and supersession logic to maintain an accurate golden record of each deal.
  • Define requirements for covenant monitoring, including financial definitions, deal-specific add-backs, ratio calculations, breach detection and waiver workflows.
  • Conduct current-state and future-state analysis and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, accuracy and control.
  • Quantify operational impact where relevant, including FTE effort, processing times and error rates.

Business, Product & Engineering Collaboration

  • Act as the bridge between business users, product owners, engineering and AI teams.
  • Translate business and credit requirements into clear functional and technical specifications.
  • Work with AI/ML teams to define extraction schemas, ground truth, test sets and evaluation criteria.
  • Review model outputs against source documents and help identify gaps, edge cases and areas for improvement.
  • Design human-in-the-loop workflows covering exceptions, reviewer actions, escalation paths and audit trails.
  • Help engineering teams understand complex credit scenarios, including non-standard clauses, bespoke amendments, multi-tranche facilities and multi-currency structures.

Systems Integration & Implementation

  • Analyse existing credit system configurations, including Loan IQ and similar loan management platforms.
  • Define data mappings between Smartflow and target systems through APIs, SFTP or other integration mechanisms.
  • Define transformation rules, validation requirements and reconciliation checks.
  • Support system implementations, client pilots, upgrades and migrations.
  • Support client onboarding by understanding each client's processes, products, documents and operational requirements.
  • Work with technology partners and vendors where required to resolve integration and implementation issues.

Documentation & Delivery

  • Produce detailed functional specifications, process flows and data mapping documents.
  • Create BRDs, FSDs, user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop process, system and data flow diagrams.
  • Support UAT planning, test case creation, execution and defect triage.
  • Validate extraction accuracy by comparing system outputs against source credit documents.
  • Contribute to release notes, user documentation and training materials.
  • Support client security, audit and compliance questionnaires by documenting data flows, lineage and control design.

In this role, success means:

  • Engineering teams can build from your requirements with minimal clarification or rework.
  • Extraction, business-rule and data-mapping specifications work effectively against real-world client documents.
  • Client pilots and go-lives run smoothly, with UAT issues identified and resolved early.
  • Smartflow's outputs are accurate, explainable and traceable back to source documents.
  • There is a strong feedback loop between credit operations, clients, product and AI engineering teams.
  • Complex credit processes are translated into practical, scalable digital workflows.
  • Clients can confidently adopt Smartflow as part of their day-to-day credit operations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Business Analyst experience within financial services, with strong exposure to credit, lending or fixed income.
  • Hands-on experience with Finastra Loan IQ or a similar credit/loan management platform such as FIS Commercial Lending, Temenos, ACBS or a proprietary banking lending platform.
  • Strong understanding of the credit lifecycle, including:
  • Origination
  • Drawdowns
  • Repayments
  • Syndication
  • Amendments and restatements
  • Collateral
  • Covenants
  • Agency servicing
  • Working knowledge of syndicated loan documentation, including LMA/APLMA facility agreements, amendments, restatements and agency notices.
  • Strong experience creating BRDs, FSDs, process flows and data flow diagrams.
  • Strong data skills, including data mapping, data modelling concepts and reconciliation.
  • Comfortable working with structured data formats such as JSON, XML and CSV, as well as APIs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain credit concepts to engineers and technical concepts to credit and operations teams.
  • Ability to work hands-on in a fast-moving product and delivery environment.

Benefits

  • International Exposure: Work with a Singapore-based financial technology company and collaborate with colleagues across an international environment.
  • Meaningful Work: Shape the systems, products, and partnerships behind faster, more connected markets.
  • Learning & Growth: Opportunities to build your expertise, take on new challenges and grow with the business.
  • Collaborative Culture: Work with people who care about the outcome, support each other and build with shared purpose across the business.
  • Comprehensive Health Coverage: Our health coverage supports everyday care and more serious needs, giving employees and their families greater peace of mind.
  • Generous PTO: Our paid time off gives people meaningful space to rest, recharge, travel, spend time with family and return well.
  • Wellbeing Initiatives: From wellness activities to practical support, we create moments that help people stay active, connected and balanced.

Marketnode tokenizes BNY funds on Stellar

Marketnode, a Singapore-based financial infrastructure firm founded by Temasek and SGX, is expanding its digital asset capabilities by tokenizing BNY Investments funds on the Stellar blockchain. This initiative aims to provide institutional and accredited investors with streamlined access to fund products through the Fundnode settlement platform. Fundnode, which launched in 2024, demonstrated significant operational capacity by processing nearly 1.5 million transactions within its first year. The choice of Stellar is driven by its native tokenization features, which include built-in compliance controls necessary for regulated entities to manage error correction and fraud prevention. Marketnode has previously established its market presence by supporting HSBC’s onchain structured products and acting as a distributor for WisdomTree and CGS International. By leveraging Stellar, Marketnode continues to build a multi-chain ecosystem that bridges traditional finance with distributed ledger technology. This development underscores the growing institutional preference for blockchain-based settlement layers that offer both regulatory oversight and high transaction throughput.

Clifford Chance advises HSBC on the issuance of its first digitally native tokenised structured product

HSBC has successfully executed its first digitally native tokenised structured product issuance in Hong Kong, marking a significant advancement in the integration of digital assets within traditional capital markets. The transaction was conducted under English law, demonstrating the adaptability of established legal frameworks to support innovative financial instruments. Marketnode Pte. Ltd served as the platform operator and paying agent for the issuance, highlighting the role of specialized digital market infrastructure in facilitating these complex trades. This milestone reflects the growing momentum of tokenised securities across the Asia-Pacific region and underscores the increasing confidence of major global financial institutions in blockchain-based settlement systems. Clifford Chance provided legal counsel for the transaction, leveraging their extensive experience in digital bond and tokenised security issuances. By successfully navigating the regulatory and technical requirements for this structured product, the involved parties have set a precedent for future digital asset offerings. This development is critical for the RWA market as it signals a shift toward institutional-grade, natively digital financial products that operate within robust legal structures.

HSBC completes first tokenized structured product pilot for institutional investors

HSBC has successfully completed its inaugural blockchain-based issuance of a digitally native structured product, utilizing U.S. dollar-denominated notes in a private placement for institutional investors in Hong Kong. The pilot transaction was facilitated by Marketnode, which served as both the tokenization agent and digital paying agent to manage issuance and settlement flows. By moving these processes onto a blockchain, HSBC aims to streamline the administration and servicing of structured products, which are traditionally complex and labor-intensive. This initiative aligns with Hong Kong's broader strategic push to integrate traditional financial instruments into digital infrastructure, following the government's issuance of over HK$6.8 billion in tokenized bonds. The pilot serves as a practical demonstration of how distributed ledger technology can enhance capital market efficiency for institutional participants. Furthermore, this development complements HSBC's recent regulatory milestones, including obtaining a stablecoin issuer license from the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. As a major issuer of structured products in Asia, HSBC's move signals a significant step toward creating a scalable foundation for future digital asset innovation in institutional finance.
