By utilizing a common infrastructure, these institutions seek to eliminate the operational inefficiencies and reconciliation complexities inherent in legacy clearing processes. Unlike private stablecoins, these tokenized deposits maintain their legal status as commercial bank deposits, ensuring they remain within existing regulatory and depositor protection frameworks. The research from MEXC Ventures highlights that this shift represents a move toward industry-wide standardization, building upon the success of JPMorgan’s Kinexys platform, which has already processed over $4 trillion in volume. While the project is currently in exploratory stages, the potential implementation of smart-contract-based conditional payments could significantly optimize trade finance, collateral management, and corporate treasury operations.
