Hong Kong Gold Exchange-backed XGZ token integrates Chainlink CCIP
GoldZip, an entity associated with the historic Hong Kong Gold Exchange, has integrated Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) to enable secure, multi-chain transfers for its XGZ gold-backed token. Launched in December 2025, each XGZ token represents one gram of 99.99% fine gold stored in accredited vaults, with the option for physical redemption upon meeting a 1,000-token minimum. As of October 2026, the project reported approximately 39,000 tokens in circulation with a market capitalization of roughly $5 million. The integration with CCIP 2.0 is part of a broader institutional strategy to enhance the liquidity and interoperability of tokenized precious metals. GoldZip has also announced ambitious plans to scale its physical gold reserves to $300 million, representing a significant sixtyfold increase from its current valuation. The issuer recently transitioned to GoldZip Company Limited in the British Virgin Islands without requiring a token migration for existing holders. This development highlights the growing trend of legacy financial institutions leveraging blockchain infrastructure to bridge traditional commodities with decentralized finance markets.
