Ripple Custody Adds Canton Network Support, Bringing CC and CIP-56 Into One Vault
Ripple has launched version 1.43 of its institutional custody platform, introducing native support for the Canton Network, including Canton Coin (CC) and assets utilizing the CIP-56 token standard. This integration allows financial institutions to manage tokenized assets alongside traditional digital assets within a single, unified custody vault. By embedding Canton Network support directly into its infrastructure, Ripple enables banks and asset managers to apply consistent policy controls and audit trails across diverse blockchain environments. The update also introduces advanced institutional workflows, such as transfer pre-approvals and two-step transfer mechanisms, which are essential for meeting strict regulatory compliance requirements. Crucially, the architecture allows institutions to maintain control over their own validator operations while leveraging Ripple’s secure signing keys. This development marks a significant expansion of Ripple’s multichain strategy, moving beyond retail-focused cryptocurrency services toward enterprise-grade financial market infrastructure. By streamlining the management of tokenized securities and repo markets, Ripple is positioning its platform as a central hub for regulated financial institutions operating on private, permissioned networks.
