CLARITY Act setback shakes crypto
The failure of the U.S. Senate to pass the CLARITY Act on September 15th triggered a significant market correction, with the total crypto market capitalization dropping by nearly $100 billion. Despite this regulatory setback and the subsequent liquidation of over $500 million in long positions, the tokenized equity market has demonstrated remarkable resilience. Binance Research indicates that the active market cap of tokenized equities on the BNB Smart Chain (BSC) has surged 314% year-to-date to $4 billion. Furthermore, the total market capitalization of on-chain tokenized stocks has reached $2.95 billion, reflecting a 262% increase year-to-date. Monthly trading volumes for these assets have experienced a 33x surge, while DeFi total value locked (TVL) in this sector jumped by 1,242% to $289.1 million. This growth suggests that institutional demand for tokenized assets is increasingly driven by the operational efficiencies of 24/7 on-chain settlement rather than solely by regulatory developments. Consequently, tokenized equities are emerging as a critical indicator of institutional adoption that remains decoupled from broader legislative volatility.
