Ant Digital Tokenizes $8.4B Energy Assets Through Blockchain Tech
Ant Digital, the enterprise solutions unit of Ant Group, is leveraging its proprietary AntChain network to tokenize 60 billion yuan in energy infrastructure assets. The company has successfully completed financing for three clean energy projects, raising approximately 300 million yuan to validate its blockchain-based funding model. Notable initiatives include a 100 million yuan financing round for Longshine Technology Group involving 9,000 electric charging units and a 200 million yuan project with GCL Energy Technology for photovoltaic assets. By bypassing traditional financial intermediaries like underwriters and loan officers, Ant Digital aims to reduce costs and accelerate capital access for infrastructure development. The firm is currently exploring plans to issue tokens linked to these energy assets on offshore decentralized exchanges to enhance liquidity. This move signifies a broader trend in the RWA market, where institutional players are increasingly utilizing distributed ledger technology to democratize access to large-scale infrastructure investments. As the global on-chain RWA market reaches $28.4 billion, Ant Digital's strategy highlights the growing practical application of blockchain in bridging the gap between physical energy assets and digital capital markets.
