Base tokenized stock volume reaches $100 million
Base has achieved a significant milestone in the RWA sector, with daily trading volume for tokenized stocks reaching $100 million. Data from Token Terminal indicates that over a 30-day period, these assets generated $730.9 million in volume across decentralized exchanges on the Base blockchain. Aerodrome emerged as the primary venue, processing $557.1 million, while Uniswap v4 handled $139.3 million, together accounting for over 95% of the total activity. Coinbase launched these Base-native stock tokens on August 24, offering exposure to major equities like Apple, Nvidia, and even private companies like SpaceX to eligible non-U.S. investors. These tokens utilize the B20 standard, which integrates compliance controls and identity checks directly into the smart contracts. Each token is backed one-for-one by shares held through the brokerage infrastructure provider Alpaca. This rapid growth highlights the increasing demand for onchain access to traditional financial assets, though the legal status of these tokens remains subject to complex regulatory frameworks regarding beneficial ownership and securities law.
