About the Opportunity

  • We are looking for an experienced Senior Manager, Settlement & Reconciliation to lead and enhance our settlement and reconciliation operations across both digital assets and fiat.
  • This role requires more than strong settlement operational experience. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of trading and settlement system architecture, including how settlement systems interact with trading platforms, transaction data, custody/banking infrastructure, and finance/accounting systems.
  • The role will serve as a key bridge between Finance, Settlement Operations, Product, Engineering, and other relevant stakeholders, translating settlement and accounting requirements into clear system, data, and reporting requirements.
  • Candidates with experience in traditional financial markets, securities, banking, brokerage, clearing, custody, or other transaction-intensive financial institutions are highly preferred.
 
  • The successful candidate will build a settlement and reconciliation function that is not only operationally effective, but also system-driven, highly reconcilable, and finance-ready.
  • The individual should be able to understand a transaction from execution through settlement, reconciliation, and ultimately financial accounting, and work across Operations, Finance, Product, Data, and Engineering to ensure that the underlying processes and systems are scalable, controlled, and transparent.
 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Settlement Operations
    - Lead and oversee day-to-day settlement operations across digital asset and fiat transactions.
    - Ensure transactions are settled accurately, completely, and within the required timelines.
    - Establish and continuously improve settlement procedures, controls, exception handling, and escalation mechanisms.
    - Identify settlement breaks, operational risks, and process inefficiencies, and drive timely resolution.
    - Support new products, transaction flows, and business models by assessing their settlement and operational requirements.

 

  • Settlement System & System Architecture
    - Develop a strong understanding of the end-to-end settlement system architecture and transaction data flow.
    - Understand how settlement systems interface with:
      - Trading systems and order/transaction engines;
      - Wallet, custody, and blockchain infrastructure;
      - Fiat banking and payment systems;
      - Data warehouse and reporting platforms; and
      - Finance, accounting, and general ledger systems.
    - Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to define settlement-related system requirements.
    - Translate operational and finance requirements into clear and actionable data, system, and reporting specifications for Engineering teams.
    - Define the reports, data fields, transaction-level information, and reconciliation logic required to support settlement operations and financial accounting.
    - Participate in system implementation, enhancement, UAT, and post-implementation validation from a settlement and finance-control perspective.

 

  • Digital Asset Reconciliation
    - Own and oversee Digital Asset (DA) reconciliation, including reconciliation among customer balances, internal ledgers, wallet/on-chain balances, custody records, and other relevant source systems.
    - Investigate and resolve reconciliation differences, including transaction timing differences, system exceptions, missing transactions, and data inconsistencies.
    - Work with Product, Engineering, Data, Wallet, and Finance teams to identify root causes and implement sustainable remediation.
    - Establish appropriate reconciliation controls and monitoring mechanisms to ensure completeness and accuracy of digital asset balances and movements.

 

  • Fiat Reconciliation
    - Own and oversee Fiat reconciliation across customer balances, banking/custodian records, payment channels, internal operational systems, and the general ledger.
    - Ensure customer fiat assets and liabilities can be reconciled to relevant operational and accounting records.
    - Investigate reconciliation breaks and coordinate with Finance, Fiat Operations, Product, Engineering, banks, custodians, and payment service providers for resolution.
    - Drive automation and system improvements to reduce manual reconciliation and operational dependency.

 

  • Customer Transaction Reconciliation
    - Oversee transaction-level reconciliation covering customer trades, deposits, withdrawals, transfers, settlements, and other relevant transaction activities.
    - Ensure customer transaction records can be traced consistently across trading, settlement, operational, and accounting systems.
    - Establish effective exception-management processes for unmatched or incomplete transactions.
    - Support Finance and external audit requirements by ensuring transaction data and reconciliation evidence are complete, accurate, and traceable.

 

  •  Finance & Accounting Support
    - Partner closely with Finance to ensure settlement data and reports provide sufficient information for accurate and timely accounting.
    - Understand how trading and settlement activities ultimately flow into financial records and the general ledger.
    - Define operational reports and data outputs required by Finance for:
      - Accounting entries;
      - Period-end closing;
      - Balance sheet reconciliation;
      - Customer asset and liability reconciliation; and
      - Financial and external audit support.
    - Identify gaps between operational systems and accounting requirements and work with relevant teams to develop scalable solutions.

 

  • Process, Control & Team Management
    - Build and maintain robust settlement and reconciliation SOPs, controls, and governance frameworks.
    - Drive automation and process improvements to improve settlement efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and control.
    - Establish key operational metrics and monitor settlement exceptions, reconciliation breaks, aging items, and resolution timelines.
    - Manage and develop the settlement team, ensuring clear ownership, effective prioritization, and strong execution.
    - Act as a senior escalation point for complex settlement, reconciliation, and transaction-related issues.
    - Collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders across Finance, Product, Engineering, Data, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and other relevant teams.
 

What We Look For In You

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in settlement, clearing, reconciliation, transaction operations, custody, or related financial operations, with experience in a managerial or senior leadership role.
  • Strong experience with customer transaction reconciliation and transaction-level data analysis.
  • Solid understanding of trading lifecycle and settlement processes.
  • Prior experience in traditional financial institutions, such as banks, securities firms, broker-dealers, exchanges, clearing houses, custodians, payment institutions, or other transaction-intensive financial businesses.
  • Strong understanding of how trading systems, settlement systems, reconciliation platforms, and accounting systems interact.
  • Ability to understand system and data architecture and translate operational or finance requirements into clear requirements for Product and Engineering teams.
  • Strong experience in designing or defining operational reports, reconciliation reports, and transaction-level data requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex reconciliation differences and identify root causes.
  • Strong understanding of operational controls, data completeness, accuracy, and transaction traceability.
  • Excellent stakeholder-management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both Finance and technical teams.
  • Strong ownership mindset and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and evolving business environment.

  • Experience in cryptocurrency, digital assets, exchanges, fintech, brokerage, or other high-volume transaction platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with digital asset / wallet / on-chain reconciliation.
